The Working Committee of the United National Party (UNP) has approved a proposal to open discussions with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), on the prospect of the two parties working together in the upcoming elections.
Earlier the SJB approved a similar proposal.
The two sides were due to start talks today.
