Two individuals were arrested in connection to a theft of 14 gemstones from a baggage at the Katunayake Airport.
A complaint was made to the Australia’s Federal Police regarding the missing gems by the owner who travelled to Australia.
Having informed the Sri Lankan Airport Police,steps were taken to check the CCTV footage, it was found out that the theft was done by two employees of the Parcel warehouse of the Katunayake Airport.
The suspects were arrested and are to be produced in the Negombo Magistrate Courts on 15 May 2023.
The suspects were aged 23 and 25 from Tholangamuwa and Hasalaka areas. Further investigations are being conducted by the Airport Police
