Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
A passenger carrying the phone and tabs had arrived in a SriLankan airline flight today morning and left the parcel in the duty free shopping area and left.
Customs officials said he may have realized that he would not be able to smuggle the items out of the airport and therefore had left them behind.
Investigations are underway to detect the passenger.
