The Sri Lanka Navy seized around 11kg and 300g of gold being smuggled by sea off Baththalangunduwa Island, Kalpitiya, today.
Acting on a tip-off about a gold smuggling racket, a team from the Special Boat Squadron, based at SLNS Vijaya, intercepted a suspicious dinghy.
Three suspects were arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt.
The three suspects, all from Kalpitiya, were arrested and handed over to the Customs Preventive Office in Katunayake for further legal action.
