Mr. Janaka Dharmakeerthi has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture in addition to Plantation Industries.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe, had made the appointment with effect from October 27.
Earlier Mr. Dharmakeerthi was the Secretary of Ministry of Plantations under the former Minister Dr Ramesh Pathirana.
However in the recent reshuffle Minister Mahinda Amaraweera was sworn in as the Minister of Plantations in addition to the Agriculture portfolio while Dr. Ramesh Pathirana was sworn in as Minister of Health.
