Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Chief of National Intelligence (CNI), yesterday (27)) relinquished his duties at the Ministry of Defence upon reaching the age of 60 years.
Maj. Gen. Wanigasooriya, a veteran officer of Sri Lanka Army, has served the nation with distinction throughout his career. As the Chief of National Intelligence, he played a key role in strengthening the country’s intelligence network and improving inter-agency coordination on national security matters, the Ministry of Defence said in a press release.
Maj. Gen. Wanigasooriya took over duties as the CNI in January this year.
The Ministry of Defence extended its appreciation to Maj. Gen. Wanigasooriya for his dedicated service and contribution to the national security during his tenure.
