On August 24, kites of colour will fill the skies of Galle Face Green marking the 5th edition of the Derana Colombo International Kite Festival 2025.
Fifty-five international kite fliers from 25 nations such as the Netherlands, Singapore, Brazil, France and more will compete with 500 Sri Lankan kite enthusiasts in the 5-category competition Exclusive Director of the Derana Media Network Madhawa Madawala said.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe said that this festival will be an opportunity to boost tourism and benefit the economy of the country.
A special traffic plan will be implemented and 21 parking locations will accommodate 10,875 vehicles, DIG Traffic and Road Safety Range Indika Hapugoda said.
Police Spokesman ASP F. U. Wootler said that 1500 police personnel including the Special Task Force (STF), Police Intelligence and Civil Service men will be deployed at the location.
