A group of key alleged Sri Lankan underworld figures have been arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia, police confirmed this morning.
The suspects are five males and one female. They include major underworld figures "Kehelbaddara Padme," and "Commando Salinda," police added. The suspects were arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Indonesian and Sri Lankan Police.
The suspects are to be brought back to Sri Lanka soon under police guard.
"Kehelbaddara Padme" is alleged to be the underworld gang leader who ordered the shooting of rival underworld leader "Ganemulla Sanjeewa" at the Aluthkade No. 05 Magistrate's Court complex in February this year. Sanjeewa was shot dead inside the courtroom by a gunman disguised as a lawyer.
