Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places across the island during the afternoon or night, the Meteorology Department said.
The department also forecasted morning showers in the Southern and Western provinces, as well as in the Puttalam, Ampara, and Batticaloa districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm is expected in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Hambantota and Ampara districts.
The general public has been advised to take precautions against potential damage from temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions are also expected in parts of the Central and Uva provinces during the morning hours.
The Met Department attributed these weather changes to the Intertropical Convergence Zone, where winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres converge.
