A suspect trying to sell a Conch shell (Valampuriya) weighing 160g for Rs. 500,000 was arrested by the Beruwela Police last night.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect had brought the Conch shell to Beruwala in a three-wheeler from Diyatalawa. Investigations further revealed that the 22 year old suspect is a former army personnel.
The suspect was due to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate's Court today (15).
The Beruwala police are conducting further investigations.
