The Former Secretary of the Local Government and Road Development Ministry and Director planning in the Sabaragamuwa province and the Planning Director have been arrested over a misappropriation of Rs 71 million, Police said.
Both suspects have been arrested by the financial crimes division of the police over signing of documents and vouchers related to 77 projects carried under Amblipitiya provincial council during year 2016 and 2016.
The Secretary had been identified as a 62 year old man residing at Ratnapura area while the Director planning was identified as a 52 year old woman who is also a resident from Hidallana, Ratnapura
Both suspects was brought before Ambilipitiya, Megistrate courts yesterday and had been remanded May 08, 2025.
