Emergency respond unit set up at MFA

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism today established a 24x7 Emergency Response Unit to coordinate matters related to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

The newly established unit is tasked coordinate matters arising from the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

This Division had been created with the vision of Prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of Sri Lankan nationals, with around 1 million Sri Lankans living and working in the Middle Eastern region.

The foreign Ministry stated that the protection of Sri Lankan nationals and added that due to the current situation they will be addressing the issues faced by Sri Lankan Nationals  on a case-by-case basis.

The unit is operational 24 hours on all seven days.
