SJB MPs economist Dr. Harsha de Silva and Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka are tipped to take up ministerial portfolios in the proposed all-party government to steer the country towards political and economic stability, informed sources said.
Government representatives have already started discussions with the two front line MPs of the SJB to gain their support for the President’s initiative to involve all political parties to resurrect the country from the current social, political and economic downturn fixing the ongoing crisis.
Dr. Harsha de Silva is tipped to become the Finance Minister while Sarath Fonseka is to get the Ministry of Public Security if the ongoing talks are successful.
Necessary plans towards this end have been launched by UNP stalwart Vajira Abeywardena, it was revealed.
Another aim of this plan is to pass the government’s interim budget with the support of the majority members of parliament as it is very essential to come out from the economic abyss at present, they pointed out. (Bandula) )
