The Department of Government Printing has decided to temporarily hold back all printing processes connected to the 2023 Local Government (LG) election.
Hence, the decision was taken in view of required funds not being released by the Treasury.
Although the postal ballots and other related documents have been printed at a cost of Rs. 50 million up to now, the Treasury is yet to release funds, the Department said.
On that account, the Department is incapable of paying the allowances of over 200 employees.
Head of Government Press Mrs. Gangani Liyanage has already made multiple written requests to the Treasury in this regard, and is on the verge to remind the Treasury of the existing matter soon.
