At least 30 others are in hospital and some of them are in a serious condition.
A Sri Lanka Transport Board bus had run off the road and fallen into a precipice near Gerandiella in the Kotmale police area today morning.
The bus was heading to Kurunegala from Kataragama. The bus had left Kataragama around 10.30 last night and travelled via Mahiyanganaya.
A passenger in the bus said that the accident took place around 4.15 a.m.
He said that it was possible that driver had fallen a sleep as he had been driving for long hours.
He said that the drived had applied brakes at the last moment just before it toppled over.
