The Narcotic Control Unit (NCU) of Sri Lanka Customs has successfully intercepted, profiled and detained several suspicious express courier parcels originating from USA, Canada, and Malaysia, which arrived at Colombo Cargo Express between January 1, 2024, and June 2025.
The said parcels remained unclaimed for an extended period, prompting further inspection. On June 25, 2025, the parcels were opened and examined, which revealed a significant quantity of concealed narcotic substances: approximately 1,101 grams of cocaine, 1,666 grams of kush and four vials of cannabis oil, Sri Lanka Customs stated.
The total estimated street value of the seized narcotics stands at approximately over Rs. 60 million. The seized narcotics were formally handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.
