National People's Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has given notice to his party support of possible Presidential election dates later this year.
Addressing a meeting of party supporters in Vancouver, Canada over the weekend he said that it was most likely that the Presidential elections will be held on September 28 or October 5.
“I am giving you notice of the possible dates so that you can book your air tickets in time’, Mr Dissanayake said.
He said that there should not be a doubt about elections and that President Ranil Wickremesinghe will go ahead with the elections.
He said that constitutionally, the Presidential elections should be held between September 17 and October 17.
