On an agreement reached between Attorney General and lawyers for the petitioners, the AG has directed the CID not to arrest the OIC of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and five others involved over the Weligama hotel shooting case.
The men have filed writ petitions before the Court of Appeal which will be called up for hearing on March 21. Until then, as the preliminary inquiries have not been completed, the Court of Appeal has directed that they should not be arrested until the next court date.
However the arrest order against suspended IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon, over the 2023 shooting remains, Police Media said.
Mr. Deshabandu too has filed a writ petition which is scheduled to be called before the Court of Appeal tomorrow.
