Internationally known wildlife artist Gamini Ratnavira who makes his home in California presented his exhibition ‘Brushes with Nature – Wildlife Art by Gamini Ratnavira’ at the Harold Peiris Gallery of the Lionel Wendt last weekend, giving local art and nature lovers an opportunity to see his works. He was accompanied by his wife Lisa on this visit.
Some 50 original paintings were on display, each a fine example of the artist’s skill and commitment to celebrating the island’s rich biodiversity.
A self-taught artist, his diverse and productive career spanning over fifty years, Gamini Ratnvira’s environmental advocacy continues. On Wednesday, November 12, he gives a talk on Art for Conservation: A Journey Through the Wild, a presentation and discussion at 6 p.m. at Genesis – the Dilmah Centre for a Sustainable Future, 52 Maligawatta Rd, Colombo 10.
