‘Shadows of a Pre-Renaissance Era’, an exhibition of pottery by master potter Ajith
Mohan Perera, will be held at Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams on February 2 and 3.
Perera sees the art as more than functional or decorative, rather a reflection of society.

Four free events in connection with Independence will be presented by the Collective for
Historical Dialogue and Memory (CDHM) in the first two weeks of February.
On February 3 at 5 pm, Ravibandhu Vidyapathy will talk on the dance and design of
Somabandhu Vidyapathy and his contribution to 20th century art. On the 5 th , the 1981
Sinhala film 'Soldadu Unnehe' by Dharmasena Pathiraja will be screened at 5.30 p.m.
connecting ideologies of Independence day - Harindra Dassanayaka will lead the
discussion. On the 7th at 4 p.m., Anomaa Rajakaruna’s film 'No More Land' will be
screened at the National Film Corporation in collaboration with People’s Alliance for
Right to Land (PARL). On the 10th at 5.30 p.m., Sudath Abeysiriwardene will present a
talk in Sinhala on the significance of boarding houses as centres for artistic and cultural
creativity in the 1960s
All of the talks are free of charge and open to the public and, except for No More Land,
will be held at the CDHM, 25 Elibank Road, Colombo 5.

The popular open-air art fair, Kala Pola, returns for its 33rd edition on Sunday, February
8. It will take place along Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha (Green Path), Colombo 07
with artists and sculptors from around the country showcasing their work for art lovers
from all walks of life. Kala Pola is presented by the George Keyt Foundation and the
John Keells Group.

‘Waves of Hope’, a charity concert in aid of communities and families affected by
Cyclone Ditwah will take place at the Galadari Hotel on February 8. Organised by the
Western Musicians Association (WMA) in collaboration with Rotary District 3220, the
concert will feature the band Misty, and leading musicians, Chitral, Dalreen, Rukshan,
Dina and Sohan.
