NDB Bank was recently honoured as one of the Most Outstanding Women Friendly Workplaces in Sri Lanka for the year at the Third Edition of the Women Friendly Workplace Awards 2023 (WFWA). The awarding ceremony was held recently at the Courtyard by Marriott Colombo.
The WFWA, which is a jointly pioneered venture by AICPA & CIMA and SATYN Magazine, seeks to recognise organisations that empower and acknowledge the contributions of women in the Sri Lankan workplace. Currently, it has been recognised as Sri Lanka’s only award that measures the wellbeing and progress of women in the workplace, NDB said in a media release.
Fostering a diverse, inclusive, and conducive work environment that encourages growth has always been an integral part of NDB’s culture. The bank has made significant progress in positioning as both the ‘Bank of Choice’ and ‘Employer of Choice’ with a female work force of 31 per cent at the top management and 41 per cent of overall staff. NDB Bank is also the first organisation in the nation to obtain EDGE Gender Certification, the leading global standard for gender equality.
Additionally, NDB Bank has made continuous efforts to empower its female clientele through various initiatives, particularly through SME and microfinance, under the bank’s Banking on Women proposition. NDB Bank’s flagship offering in this area, the NDB Araliya platform, is not just a women's savings account, but bears the larger objective of supporting women who seek to further develop their skills and knowledge whilst giving them the strength, security, and confidence to realise their aspirations in their chosen journey through life.
