NDB Bank recently organised a Free Medical Eye Camp at its Vavuniya branch in collaboration with Wickramarachchi Opticians and the Vavuniya Pensioners' Association.
Held under the banner of NDB Aachara—a product designed specifically to empower and uplift Sri Lanka’s valued pensioner community—the eye camp provided free medical eye examinations and exclusive discounts on optical solutions. The initiative was yet another reflection of NDB’s vision to extend meaningful, holistic support to senior citizens who have contributed immensely to the nation, the bank said in a media release.
The event was graced by the presence of the Head of NDB Aachara Wijaya Kumara and his team, whose active participation and support further enriched the initiative. Their engagement not only strengthened the impact of the camp but also reinforced the bank’s dedication to offering compassionate, tailored financial and wellness solutions to pensioners across the island.
The eye camp witnessed the participation of over 75 pensioners from the region—making it a day filled with genuine community engagement, impactful service delivery, and renewed trust in the bank’s purpose-driven approach.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Kumara stated: "Our senior citizens have spent a lifetime serving the nation, and through NDB Aachara, we strive to give back in every way possible. This eye camp is just one of many initiatives through which we hope to enrich their lives, not only financially but also through compassionate care. It was truly heartening to witness the smiles and gratitude of those we served in Vavuniya."
