Another chance to donate blood

Another blood donation campaign for MPs is being arranged after they complained of not receiving the earlier notices on time, the GMOA said.

The MPs failed to respond to a blood donation call and were not present last Saturday at the Central Blood Bank. Although individual letters were sent a few days before the event. MPs complained of not getting early notice. "None of us knew about the campaign." MP Kesaralal Gunasekera said. Agreeing with Mr. Gunasekera, Parliament's Secretary General Bertram Tittawella said, "The MPs were not aware. It is difficult to arrange it on a Satudary as most MPs go out to their electorates for the weekend," he said.

GMOA President, Dr. Ananda Samarasekera said, they had delivered the letters to Parliament but the MPs had apparently not received them.

He said MPs need to set an example and take the lead in helping soldiers who were fighting for the country.
