HelpAge donates wheelchairs and hearing aids to elders
View(s):The daily life requirements of many elderly citizens in Sri Lanka are increasing without proper medical and mobility support.
HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) realised this situation and distributed wheelchairs and hearing aids worth around Rs 500,000 to elders living in Ruhunu Rideegama, Uhana in Ampara, Hurigaswewa, Thalathuoya, Himbutana in Angoda, Matara, Nugegoda and Homagama. The distribution was made on April 30.
The donations were made by donors and well-wishers who continuously support the organisation’s humanitarian work.
Beneficiary R W Kusuma de Silva expressed her gratitude to HelpAge for donating a wheelchair through the organisation’s mobile medical services.

She appealed to the public to support HelpAge saying that every contribution brings comfort and dignity to elders in need.
HelpAge pointed out that Sri Lanka’s aged population is increasing and its services for vulnerable elders are sustained entirely through donor contributions and appealed for public support in this regard.
