Railway authorities expect to resume train services from Badulla to Nanu Oya within the next one-and-a-half to two months, as repair work continues on sections of the upcountry line damaged by landslides during Cyclone Ditwah.
Services between Badulla and Colombo Fort have remained suspended for five months, with the worst-affected stretch reported between Ambewela and Nanu Oya, where restoration is now underway.
At present, only the Udarata Menike and Podi Menike trains operate between Badulla and Ambewela, while restoration work on sections beyond Nanu Oya are still ongoing, with no definite timeline for full reopening.
Trains operate only to Rambukkana on the upcountry and Kandy line from Colombo.
