‘MICHAEL’ hits record-breaking US$238 million in 7 days and still climbs

Rs. 36.6 billion) from other international markets, taking its global total to US$238 million (approx. 71.4 billion Sri Lankan Rupees).
The film ‘Michael’ opened strongly, earning US$39.5 million (approx. Rs. 11.85 billion) in North America from 3,900 screens and on its first day alone, surpassing the film ‘Oppenheimer’ to record the biggest opening day ever for a biographical film and the highest opening day of any release in 2026. It went on to debut with US$97 million (approx. Rs. 29.1 billion) worldwide, marking the best-ever opening weekend for both a biographical and musical film.
