Rotary Club of Colombo Port City helps rebuild education
View(s):The ‘Back to School’ Project, a US$36,000 initiative funded by Canadian giant Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd and executed by the Rotary Club of Colombo Port City, recently delivered school supplies with a retail value exceeding Rs. 14 million to 1,300 students across the North Central and Uva Provinces.
For this initiative, the execution was spearheaded by Ms. Priya Mehta, Director of Charitable Giving at Fairfax. Operating from Toronto, Mehta didn’t just sign a check; she became the logistical bridge, coordinating the complex machinery of international fund transfers and compliance to ensure that help arrived swiftly where it was needed most, according to a Rotary Club media release.
The recipients come from 10 most deserving schools in two provinces.
