A helping hand to foster music in two schools in Puttalam

Two Sri Lankans residing in the UK have reached out to help students of a couple of underprivileged schools in Puttalam.
The two men, businessman Dilakshan Somanathbabuji and attorney at law Mohamed Malik had contacted Public Administration and Provincial Council Minister Chandana Abeyaratne and expressed their desire to give a helping hand to uplift the education of children in need.

They were informed that the Anamaduwa Palliyagama Sariputhra Maha Vidyalaya and Arachchikattuwa Kurukkupane Soysapura Kanishta Vidyalaya were short of musical instruments.
The two philanthropists then donated musical instruments to the tune of Rs 1 million with the intervention of the minister. They also help set up a water filtration system for the people of the area at a cost of Rs. 1.5 million.
The principals and the music teachers of both schools were present at the event to handover the instruments to the students.
Mr. Mohamed Malik who was unable to attend the event had sent a message that stated that although he was unable to be physically present due to global flight disruptions he would continue to support projects to help develop rural areas.
Mr. Somanathbabuji who participated in the event said that he would gladly provide funds to improve the education of children in need.
