Murfin Randyo and Uthayanan Abijoyshanth shone for St. John’s College, Jaffna in their comfortable 65-run victory over traditional rivals Jaffna Central College in the 23rd Battle of the North limited-overs encounter, played at St. John’s ground in Jaffna.

Murfin scored a brilliant 101, including nine boundaries and a six, coming to his side’s rescue when they were struggling at 56-5, while sharing a crucial 100-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Nageshwaran Krishan, helping St. John’s post 226-8.

In reply, Jaffna Central offered little resistance apart from a half century by Kabilan Amalan. Uthayanan Abijoyshanth, supported by Sivakumar Nathenia and Murfin, teamed up to bowl out the opposition for 161 runs. St. John’s bounced back strongly after losing the three-day encounter, chalking up their 13th win of the series against Jaffna Central’s 10.
