Wesley prevail with first innings win
Wesley College had to settle in for a first-innings victory over Kingswood College in their Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter, which concluded at Campbell Park yesterday. Replying to Wesley’s declared total of 301-8, Kingswood resumed on their overnight score of 59-2 but were bowled out for 199 and were forced to follow on. In their second innings, Kingswood managed to wipe out the deficit by scoring 153 runs, thereby avoiding defeat.
Meanwhile, St. Benedict’s College and Zahira College also secured first-innings wins against S. Thomas’ College and Moratu Maha Vidyalaya in matches concluded at Kotahena and Moratuwa respectively. Holy Cross College, however, went a step further, cruising to an outright 8-wicket victory over Kalutara Vidyalaya at Horana.
