The programme will be conducted with the participation of all members of the Sansadaya, alongside chairperson Mangala Perera and the artistes of the association. The late veteran singer’s husband, Leslie Gunatilaka, is also scheduled to attend as a special guest. The memorial lecture on Angeline Gunathilake will be delivered by veteran singer Sujatha Attanayake, while scholarly discussions will be held by Professor P M C Tilakaratne and Professor Kulatilaka Kumarasinghe.
This programme is supported by the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Cultural Affairs, with the Tower Hall Foundation providing maximum support to the Sageetha Kala Sansadaya. Following the success of last year’s event, the organising committee has once again planned a highly successful memorial concert. The Department of Cultural Affairs’ dance and percussion teams, accompanied by visuals, will perform during the event. Under the musical guidance of veteran singer Sujatha Attanayake and Navarathna Attanayake, several distinguished vocalists from the association will perform songs Angeline sang on that day.
Financial contributions for this programme have been made by regular members of the association as well as several benefactors. As a voluntary organisation, the sansadaya undertakes such programmes to honor and preserve the memories of popular figures who have naturally gifted talents in art and creation within Lankan society, ensuring their legacy is never forgotten and their creative contributions are continually appreciated. We regard this as our “duty.”
This year’s financial sponsorship is provided by singer Punya Kathriarachchi. Additionally, selected artistes will be awarded gifts during the event.
