Yash Raj’s new film ‘Saiyaara’: Revival of romance
View(s):Reviving Bollywood’s long-standing legacy of romance in cinema, popular production banner Yash Raj Films (YRF) will return with its latest love story ‘Saiyaara’, which will be released in theatres worldwide on July 18, 2025.
The film marked the debut of Ahaan Panday in the Hindi film industry and featured Aneet Padda as the female lead. Their passionate relationship unfolded through intense moments and emotional turbulence as the young couple fought to keep their love alive on screen.
Presented by Aditya Chopra, directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Akshaye Widhani, Saiyaara brought together YRF and Mohit Suri—two names synonymous with Bollywood’s most iconic romantic dramas—for the first time.
With over two decades of filmmaking experience, Mohit Suri spoke to the media about the revival of romance in cinema. ‘Romance is a genre I love the most, maybe because I’ve always been fascinated by people and their love stories’ the director explained. ‘Every love story is so different, unique, heartwarming, and gut-wrenching. You feel so many emotions, you root for people, and you believe that love can be the great healer’.
Known for earlier romantic hits like Aashiqui 2, Awarapan, and Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Suri described ‘Saiyaara’ as ‘an exploration of the kind of intense love one often experiences at a very young age’.
‘People underestimate the emotional depth of young people and how life-changing their relationships can be. I love how young minds work, how they feel and process love’ he added.
Behind the camera, Vikas Sivaraman served as Director of Photography, with story and screenplay by Sankalp Sadana, dialogues by Rohan Shankar, and Sumana Ghosh as Creative Executive Producer. Rishabh Chopra took on the role of Associate Producer.
Imported by Aiswariya Films and distributed by CEL, ‘Saiyaara’ was released at Colombo City Centre, PVR, Liberty, Majestic, Regal, KCC, Savoy, JP Cineplex, and other theatres island wide.
