The Sapumalgaskada Vihara is located within the Vedivettukallu Grama Niladhari Division, in the Vavuniya District of Sri Lanka’s Northern Province. This monastic complex can be chronologically placed around the 10th century CE and is identified as a Pabbata Vihara.  The stupa and image house have already been excavated and conserved through the intervention of the Department of Archaeology of Sri Lanka. With the formal approval of the Director General of Archaeology, Sri Lanka, a recent excavation was conducted from January to March 2025. This presentation provides the first public dissemination of the preliminary results of the excavation.
