Community Life Saver Programme launched in Puttalam
View(s):As per the memorandum of understanding signed between Sri Lanka Jama’athe Islami (SLJI)b and the Sarvodaya Organisation, the first phase of the Community Life Saver Programme was launched as a two-day event with the support of the Puttalam Region and the Puttalam Branch of the Jama’ath.
The inaugural event was held recently at Garden View Hotel and Resort, Puttalam.
Sergeant Ranga Kumara of the Sri Lanka Air Force, representing the Disaster Management Centre of the Puttalam Divisional Secretariat, addressed the trainees on the importance of the programme and encouraged them to get optimum benefit of the two-day training.

Chief Training Officer at Sarvodaya Yasodara Amarawickrama briefed participants on the key components of the training and explained how one can become a life saving volunteer through such programmes.
Deputy President of SLJI Ash Sheikh Abdur Rahman appreciated the trainees for participating in this vital initiative.
Officials from the Disaster Management Centre, trainers from Sarvodaya, and representatives from SLJI Puttalam Region and Puttalam Branch were also present at the inaugural event.
