Ikebana creations bloom in 7 colours
Ikebana International Sri Lanka Chapter 262 held another successful exhibition titled ‘Blossoms of Hope’ at the Ivy Room at the Cinnamon Grand in late March with Ambassador of Japan, Akio Isomata, as the chief guest.
President of the Sri Lanka Chapter, Shiromi Soosaipillai, told the Sunday Times that 23 of their members took part this time around working with seven colours in keeping with the exhibition’s theme of colour. It was the ambassador who gave the group their theme which Shiromi laughingly described as “challenging.”

Even when the identical flowers and colours were used, each arrangement reflected the designer’s own interpretation.
Part of the proceeds from these annual exhibitions, since their inception 15 years ago, have gone to the paediatric cancer ward at the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama.
CHEC Port City was the event’s main sponsor, and many contributed in support of the cause.
