Peradeniya Alumni gather for the 36th AAUP AGM

The 36th Annual General Meeting of the Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya (AAUP) was held on March 23, 2025, at the Diamond Jubilee Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya. The event featured an address by Chief Guest Dr. Romesh Ranawana (Chairman, National AI Advisory Committee), who highlighted the University’s role in the impending AI revolution in Sri Lanka.

Distinguished alumnus, Emeritus Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake was felicitated for his contribution as a scientist. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Terrence Madujith urged alumni to support the university’s ongoing initiatives. The event concluded with a fellowship lunch at the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge.

Emeritus Prof. Deepthi Bandara was appointed as President, Dr. Rajitha Ranasinghe as General Secretary, and Mr. Hubert Kalugampitiya as Treasurer of the new Executive Committee.
