Two shot in incident connected to Hulftsdorp court shooting
View(s):Two more persons were shot and injured in Akarawita, Gampaha last evening in what appears to be a continuity of the rivalry between two gangs.
The shooting took place in a motorcycle spare-part shop causing injuries to the owner of the shop identified as Chamara Sandaruwan, and shop assistant Asitha Devinda.
The gunman and his accomplice had arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire.
Police believe that the shop owner was linked to the underworld gang leader “Kehelbaddara Padme” operating from overseas, and reportedly responsible for planning the killing of ‘Ganemulle Sanjeewa’ inside the courts in Hulftsdorp.
The shop owner had been recently threatened by an associate of ‘Ganemulle Sanjeewa’.
The injured persons were admitted to the Gampaha Hospital. Police investigations are continuing.
Police said that they had received information about the motorcycle used by the gunman.
