Expect an unforgettable evening of music and theatre as the Workshop Players return to the stage for a special charity concert, Encore for a Cause, in support of the Indira Cancer Trust’s Suwa Arana Palliative Paediatric Care Centre.

The show goes on the boards on Tuesday, March 18 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.

The choice of date for this concert carries a doubly significant meaning: coming between the 33rd anniversary of the Workshop Players on March 7 and World Theatre Day on March 27, the concert on the 18th serves as a tribute to the ensemble’s enduring legacy and the global celebration of theatre.

Said Jerome L. de Silva, Artistic Director of the Workshop Players: “Having seen and experienced the suffering and anguish of children suffering from cancer and their parents, I decided that we should do a fundraiser to help support them.” In response, the group has rallied together, channelling their passion and talent into a cause that offers solace and support to children battling cancer.

All proceeds from the show will go directly to Suwa Arana – a place for healing, which provides compassionate end-of-life care for children. The centre’s Rainbow Rooms ensure that families can stay together, providing children not only with medical attention but also with emotional and spiritual care during their most vulnerable times.

Audiences can look forward to an exceptional line-up of performances, featuring theatre veterans such as Stephanie Siriwardhane, Dushyanth Weeraman, Mario De Soyza, Melanie Bibile, Rehan Almeida, Dinushka Jayawickreme, Bhanu Prabahsha, Kavitha Gunasekera, Daniella Perera and Sean Amarasekera alongside renowned guest artists.

Tickets priced at Rs. 5000, Rs. 4000, Rs. 3000, for reserved seating, with Balcony seats at Rs. 1500 will be available soon at the Lionel Wendt box office.
