Introduction

Many are trying to execute personal branding on mass media and as well as on social media. In brand marketing, communication begins only when the product is ready. Unfortunately, the complete opposite occurs in most of the personal branding plans of the individuals we come across. The reason may be for many reasons however, for you to execute a successful personal branding campaign, it’s important to know what you want to be in the end, how you reach where you need to get, and more importantly why you need to do so. Because you are the product of the personal branding campaign and when you are not ready, the product is not ready.

What should be the approach?

Finding our true selves is the biggest and most significant quest of our lives. However, many of us go about our lives either not knowing anything about ourselves or listening to a terrible inner critic that feeds us all the wrong ideas. We incorrectly believe that self-awareness equates to self-indulgence, and we continue without posing the most crucial question of all: Who am I? What do I intend to do with my one wild and precious life?”

What’s your true calling?

The phrase “What’s your true calling in life” may be used to describe this. It ultimately comes down to the same question: what is your life’s ultimate goal? This can also be known as your life’s purpose. A conversation with one’s emotions and actual self is essential to discovering one’s genuine calling or mission. The only person who truly knows you is you. Not even your parents would be aware of your true identity. Therefore, it’s important to pay attention to who you really are.

It’s about attempting to live your life while realising who you truly are after you’ve worked it out and know what you’re made of. Today’s society would not allow you to be who you are, or would instead force you to change to fit the situation. This will produce a self-duality that ultimately combines your true self with the person you should portray yourself as.

Our lives have two ends, whether we like it or not. First, our values or presumptions, followed by what other people believe to be true or what they would like us to live by. The following could be used to illustrate this.

We are at times compelled to do what is right to us as well as to others. For instance, we would end up joining hands with someone else’s religious work, which we may also feel right to be a part of it.

At times you will end up committing yourself to do something which looks wrong according to your value system but will be valued by someone else. For example, your friend might invite you to go out tonight, but it wouldn’t be in line with your   value system. However, you will end up joining your friend which will give you a negative outcome. It’s only after having a negative impact or an outcome you would tend to look back at it from an objective point of view.

In the same way, what may look right to you may not look right to others. You might want to believe in universal powers, but your friends may not believe in them because he or she may not aware of quantum physics.

There are things that we do at times which are wrong to us and to others both still we end up getting involved. Alcohol, tobacco, to many other things and the list can go on.

What is the issue?

The problem is that, depending on the situation, we may end ourselves committing ourselves to particular activities regardless of whatever quadrant it falls under. These actions would always come under one of the four categories mentioned above. This would confuse our inner senses, making us wonder about our true selves. Sometimes we have a tendency to define ourselves by the things we do or the situations we encounter. However, in practice, we are not what we have committed to; in other words, we occasionally stray from our true selves because of the various roles we perform. We may be far more than we believe ourselves to be. It is therefore advised that we occasionally withdraw from society and examine our inner selves to ask ourselves, “Am I doing what I should be doing?” in order to discover our true selves. Am I who I ought to be?

Why is it important?

Finding the answers to some of life’s questions can always be achieved by listening to yourself and reflecting on your own actions and ideas. It will also enable you to determine the course that life should take going forward. We can all lose the chance to examine our inner selves and determine our next course of action when we become engrossed in our everyday routines. This space can be created for yourself through yoga, meditation, reading, jogging, beach walks, and more. It will revitalise your mind and rebuild your soul. Make time for yourself. The purpose of life is not to indulge in everything that comes your way. It has a deeper meaning that you must discover for yourself. Nobody else is able to locate it for you.
