An Indian Film Festival organised by the High Commission of India will be held at the theatres in Colombo, Kandy, Hambantota and Jaffna from January 6 to 10, 2025. Some of the films will be screened at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre too in Colombo.
The festival will kick off with the screening of the Bollywood hit ‘83’ at PVR Cinema in Colombo on January 6 and it is for invitees only.
Public screenings will start on January 7 with ‘RRR’ which will be screened at 10.00 am and ‘Aatam’ at 1.00 pm at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Kelaniya. On the same day ‘Thinking of him’ will be shown at 2.00 pm at E-Library at Colombo Public Library and Gujarat film ‘Reva’ at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Colombo. On January 8, Tamil film ‘Vikram’ will be screened at 5.00 pm at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre while ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kagi Hein’ will be screened at Panibaratha Theatre, University of Visual and Performing Arts at 5.30 pm. On January 9 at 9.00 am ‘Toofan Mail’ will be screened at Department of Government Information, Ministryt of Mass Media for Tri forces. ‘The Kashmir Files’ will be screened at the Photrography Society of Sri Lanka, Lionel Wendt Memorial Art Centre, at 4.30 pm, while Kannada film ‘Dollu’ will be screened at 5 pm at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre.
