Niyaz brings ‘Bambara Wasanthe’

Veteran filmmaker Mohan Niyaz’s newest film ‘Bambara Wasanthe’, an entertaining love story, has released in the Sinhala cinemas circuit from March 21.

The story revolving around a well to do planter, Clifford and his family with young daughter, ‘Bambara Wasanthe’ narrates a suspenseful tale. Elderly Clifford has a strained relationship with his wife Sherin.  The shrewd superintendent of the estate, Grecian has a secret affair with Clifford’s wife.

One day during an argument with his wife, Clifford loses his temper and attacks Sherin and she dies. Clifford seeks the assistance of Grecian to hide the murder.

In the meantime Clifford’s daughter Ishara is suspicious about the death of her mother. She together with her lover, Sameera one of the employees in the estate starts to unearth the murder.

The film stars Channa Perera, Tanasha Hatharasingha, Jagath Galappaththi, Chanchala Warnasuriya, Nandana Hettiarachchi, Teddy Vidyalankara, Aruna Rupasinghe, Charaka Thushara, Kumara Thilakaratne, Sunil Herath, Jeewaka Sampath, Dilki Liyanage, Nilupul Neththikumara, Ajantha Pushpakumara, Rex Kodippili and Upali Keerthisena in the main cast.

Started with Yasoma in 1977, Niyaz has 13 films including ‘Blendings’, ‘Anuragaye Ananthaya’, ‘Sanda Yahanata’, ‘Kalu Sudu Mal’, ‘Eka Malaka Pethi’, ‘Api Marenna nehe’ and the recently released ‘Sri Wickrema’ a film about the last king of Sri Lanka, to his credit. An experienced teledrama director, Niyaz also has produced nearly 40 teleplays.

Produced by T. D. Nadesh, story, screenplay and dialogues of ‘Bambara Wasanthe’ by Jagath Galappathi and cinematographed by K. D. Dayananda. Edited by Anura Bandara, art direction by Sunil Ananda, assistant director is Sunetha Rasanga, colour grading by Ananda Bandara and make up by Gayani Satharasinghe assisted by Sajith Maduranga.

An MPI release, the film will be screened at Kandy City Centre and many other theatres around the country.
