The much awaited 14th edition of European Film Festival in Colombo will be held at National Film Corporation Cinema from August 16 to 21. One of the most popular film festivals in the festival calendar of Sri Lankan filmgoers, European Film Festival creates a rare opportunities for film lovers to experience popular and award winning films made in the Europe.

Festival will be opened on  August 16 with the screening of ‘Murina’ by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic which won the  Camera d’Or at Cannes Film Festival and the chief guest at the opening ceremony will be award winning actor and screenwriter Nimmi Harasgama. Public screening at 3.30pm and 6.00pm from August 17 to 21.

Presented by European Union in Colombo and curated by Anomaa
Rajakaruna, European Film Festival in Colombo will showcase 11 films representing Croatia, Slovania, Austria, Italy, Latvia, Luxumburg, France, Hungary, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Slovakia, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Latvia and Ukraines.

The films that would be featured are ‘Murina’ by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic (2021 Croatia, Slovenia, Brazil, United States), ‘Oskar & Lilli’ by Arash T. Riahi
(2020 | Austria), ‘Sanremo’ by Miroslav Mandi  (2020 Slovenia, Italy), ‘My Love affair with Marriage’ by Signe Baumane (2022|Animation United States, Latvia, Luxembourg), ‘The Big Hit’ (Un triomphe) by Emmanuel Courcol (2020| France), ‘Gentle’(Szelíd) by Anna Eszter Nemes, László Csuja (2022 |Hungary, Germany), ‘Shadow Country’(Krajina ve stínu) by Bohdan Sláma (2020 |Czech Republic, Slovakia), ‘Io Sto Bene’ by Donato Rotunno (2020|Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, Italy), ‘Mitra’ by Kaweh Modiri (2021| Netherlands, Germany, Denmark), ‘Imad’s Childhood’ by Zahavi Sanjavi (2021 | Documentary Sweden, Latvia, Iraq) and  “Luxembourg”,  by Antonio Lukich (2022 |Ukraine).
