The forthcoming art exhibition ‘Thesuth-Ru’, brings together the artistic talents of two sisters and their brother, who each pursued different paths.

Jayamini de Silva, Nilmini de Silva and Jagath de Silva are coming together for the exhibition that will be held from August 4-6 at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery, Colombo 7. Their work spans a diverse range – including paintings of acrylic and oil on canvas, Chinese ink on rice paper, book covers, mixed media and even cross stitch.

Jayamini is the founder and director of JammiArt Academy, UK that provides art education for all age groups. Working mostly with school
children, she also holds one-to-one lessons, group classes and other artistic activities.

Jayamini graduated in Fine Arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China, and gained a Master’s in Art Conservation, from the University of Northumbria, United Kingdom. She has been attached to the Foreign Languages Department at University of Kelaniya as an Assistant Lecturer and lately, the Fine Arts Department of the University of Peradeniya as a Senior Lecturer. She works on acrylic on canvas, ink on rice paper, and stone colours on silk.

Currently a senior Dental Surgeon at the Dental Hospital, Peradeniya, Nilmini obtained her BDS from the University of Peradeniya. Since she was a child, she was interested in cross stitch which she learnt from her mother and Beeralu and has over the years developed her skills to a professional level.

Jagath is a self-taught artist, dramatist, actor, and designer who retired after serving the Board of Investment (BOI). He holds a B.Com from the University of Ruhuna and a Master’s in Mass Communication from the University of Sri Jayawardanepura.

Their exhibition offers an opportunity for art lovers to see the creativity of these artistically inclined siblings.
