Trinity College pulled off a thumping 55-10 win over Science College, a week before their Bradby encounter, after leading 24-3 at halftime at Pallekelle yesterday.

It was a perfect field day for the Trinity when they crossed the opponent’s line on eight occasions. From the kick off onwards they looked a yard faster, threatening and hungry to score. Their fly half, 16-year-old, Shan Althaf was outstanding. His kick at goal and gaining territory with booming touch kicks was a pleasant experience for the home crowd with their Bradby Shield encounter against Royal just one week away at home.

Their forwards Chamendra Dhanapala and Dehan Watagoda were omnipresent while the three-quarter line ran circles around the hapless visitors. Abith Jameel, Rushen Bandaranayake, Sachindu Wanasekera too stood out for the Trinitians along with their skipper Attaab Manzil, who had a grand outing as well. Meanwhile it was a one man show by the visiting Science outfit with their fly half, Dilruwan Perera having an outstanding game both in defense as well in attack.

Trinity drew first blood when Jameel brushed aside few defenders to touch down in the seventh minute. Shan Althaf added the extras. Ten minutes later the youngest in the outfit, Althaf was on target with a penalty kick for the home team. Trinity, after number of forwards move, saw their No.8 Chamendra Dhanapala going over through a forwards rush. Althaf added the extras to take the score to 17-0. Three minutes later Science scored their solitary first half points through a penalty kick by Perera. Trinity had time for one more try in the 29th minute through Anuhas Kodituwakku.

After the turnaround Trinity scored tries through Chamendra Dhanapala, Lakindu Herath, Ravin Illangaratne, Sachindu Wanasekera and Thenuk Fernando. Shan converted three of them while Science scored their solitary try of the match through Perera, who danced his way to fox the entire Trinity defense all over with a beautiful try and then successfully converted it.
