A large collection of high quality bonsais created by the members of the Sri Lanka Bonsai Association will be on display, at their annual exhibition “Reflections 2023 – “Living Images” to be held on May 13 and 14 from 10 am to 6 pmat the Women’s International Club, Gilford Crescent, Colombo 7.

Demonstrations will be held at 4 pm on both days at the venue.

When artistic bonsai trees are displayed at exhibitions, many viewers get a desire to try out creating a bonsai. A beginner could be little nervous, but learning to grow bonsai is not as difficult as people think. In time, one can gain confidence as he/she sees how the trees respond to the training. Care of bonsai requires a little time each day to check whether they need watering, pruning and fertilising them when necessary.

Watching and helping this living art grow into what one imagined gives many hours of pleasure. Spending time with a bonsai relaxes a person who returns stressed from a hard day’s work.

The fascination of these miniature trees is the fact that with the increasing number of people living in smaller houses and flats, often in congested towns, there are fewer opportunities to appreciate nature. If you live in a small apartment and are stressed out due to your demanding lifestyle, then you need to visit ‘Living Images’.

If looked after well, a bonsai can be passed from generation to generation. A bonsai is said to bring life and good energy to your home and revitalise your mind, body and soul. No gift spells thoughtfulness as much as a bonsai.

Here are some reasons you should be interested in bonsai and pay a visit to ‘Living Images’:

n A bonsai can be a lifelong companion. The oldest bonsai tree in the world is believed to be over 800 years old

n In the same way some believe gems bring certain benefits to its wearer, many believe a bonsai can re-energise and revitalise your home. A bonsai can definitely soothe a pair
of sore eyes

  • A bonsai is a piece of art.A statement
  • A bonsai is a symbol of class and elegance
  • A bonsai requires minimal space, which is perfect for modern homes
