The music lovers in the city of Moratuwa are all agog that the Silver Jubilee edition of the pioneering sing-along, ‘Down Memory Lane’ (DML) is all set for kick off on Saturday, 29th April at Grand Bolgoda Resort, starting at 6.00 pm onwards.

‘Down Memory Lane’, Sri Lanka’s pioneering and premier sing-along of ‘golden oldies’ is back on track after an inevitable lapse of over four long years due to the pandemic and Easter attack in 2019. Organised by the Moratuwa Arts Forum (MAF), this two and a half hour Silver Jubilee DML Concert is the trailblazer sing-along and the longest running series of concerts in Sri Lanka.

As customary, the main focus of the show will be on vintage songs, very much endeared by the avid old favourites lovers and also includes the more recent oldies from the ‘70 and ‘80s era.

The organizing committee is co-chaired by seasoned musicians Brian Cooray and Sarath Goonawardene, along with the creator of DML, Priya Peiris overlooking in an advisory capacity.

The star studded galaxy of singers from the Forum will give lead to the sing-along sessions.

Melantha Perera of ‘Mirage’ fame, the current President of Moratuwa Arts Forum, is very optimistic about this year’s show and invites all sing-along lovers to come with family and friends for an evening full of fellowship, fun and unlimited camaraderie.

As always, a songbook will be provided to each participant and the sing-along repertoire will comprise endearing vintage favorites and oldies familiar to everyone, including much loved Sinhala evergreens.

Arun Dias Bandaranaike will be the Master of Ceremonies at this event. This year’s programme being of special significance is expected to attract a full house of sing-along enthusiast.

‘With the added intensity for the Jubilee programme, this version of DML too is poised to bring about great fellowship, camaraderie and bonhomie from the opening song ‘Old folks at home ‘ until the parting refrain of ‘Auld lang syne’. Ticket are being sold rapidly and everybody interested are advised to make your reservations early’ said Priya Peiris.
