Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen thanks fans

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen has issued a statement on March 19 thanking fans for their concern and prayers after suffering a violent  assault on March 13 in Florida. Allen, the 59-year-old one handed drummer of Def Leppard was attacked by a 19-year-old outside his hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was with the band in Florida to support fellow rock band Motley Crue at a concert.

 


First top 10 entry for Strandz

Strandz is a new rap artist who has his first UK top 10 entry ‘Us Against The World’ at No: 10 this week. The song begins by sampling Smokey & the Miracles ‘Who’s Gonna Take The Blame’ from 1970 as it stays close to classic hip hop. ‘Us Against The World’ is seven in the chart, and this week made a jump of two notches from 12 to No: 10. Standz was born in Germany, raised in Nigeria and is now based in South London.


Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding’s song ‘Miracle’ debuts on the charts

After a break of seven weeks, a new song has managed to debut in the UK top 10 singles chart. Taking the honours are Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding with the song ‘Miracle’ which checked into the chart at No: 3. (It was one of the highest trending songs from the time of release). ‘Miracle’ is a trance track reminiscent of the work by Robert Miles, with a sleek synth piano in the background, just like the 90s/2000s. ‘Miracle’ is the third occasion Harris and Goulding have collaborated. The previous tracks were ‘I Need Your Love in 2012 (No: 4) and ‘Outfield’ in 2016 (No: 6). ‘Miracle’ is the 29th overall top 10 UK hit for Harris and 12th overall hit for Goulding.


Cat Stevens to release album

Cat Stevens is to release an 11-track album ‘King of a Land’ on June 16. A week later the 74-year-old, also known as Yusuf Islam, will be playing on the legends slot at the Glastonbury festival. It has taken Stevens more than 11 years to produce a new album. ‘King of a Land’ is being made in studios in London and his house studio in Dubai. Stevens has previously recorded 15 albums. He has several iconic songs to his credit, among them are, ‘Father And Son’, ‘Morning Has Broken’, ’Wild World’, ‘Peace Train’ and ‘First Cut Is The Deepest’ .
