US artist Miguel’s single cracks the UK singles chart

The US artist Miguel has been around since 2008. It has taken 15 years for Miguel to crack the UK top 10 singles chart. After all these years an old song ‘Sure Thing’ released back in 2010 has become the first, to get there thanks to it going viral on the social media platform Tik Tok. ‘Sure Thing’ debuted five weeks ago on the chart at 83 and moved up with ease as the track still sounds very contemporary. Last week ‘Sure Thing’ made it to the top 10 and this week has climbed from 10 to No: 6. The R&B/ neo soul track is taken from Miguel’s 2010 album ‘All I Want Is You’.

‘Flowers’ by Miley becomes longest running No: 1 single in the UK

For a third week the current hit by Miley Cyrus, ‘Flowers’ sounds fresh with no sigh of wilting. ‘Flowers’ is Miley’s longest running No: 1 song in the UK. This week the track had 106,000 chart sales including 12 million streams. The song which the 30 year old co penned with Gregory Hein and Michael Pollock has also topped the charts in her home country the US in addition to Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Norway, New Zealand and Sweden.

Sir Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour breaks records

Sir Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour has broken the record for the highest grossing tour in history with $817.9 million. His farewell tour began in September 2018. The opening concert was held in Pennsylvania, US. The tour was interrupted in March 2020 owing the Covid 19 pandemic. It resumed in January 2022 and is due to conclude in England at the Glastonbury Festival on 25th June. During the final leg the 72 year old artist will play 25 dates across the UK. The previous record for the highest-grossing tour was held by Ed Sheeran’s Divide Tour $776.4 million. Meanwhile Sir Elton was very disappointed after he was forced to cancel his two concerts in Auckland, New Zealand recently due to the floods that hit the country.
