Singer with Lankan roots
Young singer Keisha Schneck is looking forward to an exciting future after her single, ‘Forget About Me’ debuted on the Top 100 Swiss Dance Charts last year.
Born in the Canary Islands to a Sri Lankan mother and an Italian-Austrian father, 18-year-old Keisha and her sister grew up in mainland Spain. She started her musical journey at school and then enrolled in a music programme at MMI Studios, after producer Paul Sedkowski approached her, recording covers and writing original songs which were released on the studio’s YouTube channel.
Her first music video in 2019 was for a school project to raise awareness about poverty in Sri Lanka. A regular visitor to Sri Lanka during her summer vacations, the cause was close to her heart.
Desman’s ‘Difference’ was recorded in Sri Lanka under the musical direction of Nishantha Warnakulasuriya, who has also been involved in her vocal training for the past three years. The music video was also recorded in Sri Lanka.
‘Forget About Me’ her second major release, is a dance/electronic track with lyrics by Keisha and music produced by Mar G Rock, a Greece-based DJ and music producer, who put a new musical spin on Keisha’s track.
Recorded and filmed in Spain, the upbeat track making it to the Top 100 Swiss Dance Charts was encouraging she says.“I was shocked! I wasn’t expecting it to go on any chart because I’m such a small artist. It made me feel like I can actually go places.”
Currently she is recording multiple music videos in Sri Lanka.
