On popular demand, ‘My Mother – The Concert by Janaka’ will be staged once again on 19 March, virtually to all those who had missed out on the first show few weeks ago.

Sri Lankan born Janaka Palapathwala had been travelling around the world for sell-out concerts, reminiscing of yesteryears’ hits.

He’s got a unique voice that can match Jim Reeves, Elvis, Tom Jones, Engelbert, Neil Diamond, Ricky Van Shelton, and the like.

After two years of travel restrictions and stringent social distancing regulations imposed by governments worldwide owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Janaka has decided to reach out to his fans on the virtual platform.

‘My Mother – The Concert by Janaka’ was held on Wednesday 16 February. Over 90% of the highly acclaimed concert viewers were fans and admirers of Janaka from Australia, Europe, the United States, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. Sri Lankans living here and in many other countries also made up a large part of this audience.  The show is a state-of-the-art concert with a full band, backup choral, high-end light and sound systems and compere. The fans will experience the same ambience as watching the concert in an auditorium.

Those who buy the link and live in Kandy, the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka have the opportunity to watch the show on giant screen with high-quality sounds at the plush Atelier Hotel Kandy, with the highest standards of Sri Lankan hospitality.

Janaka had three sell-out concerts in Sri Lanka under the music direction of Maestro Harsha Makalande, Suresh Maliyadde and Dinesh Subhasinghe, with fully-fledged orchestras.

Distant Drums, From a jack to a King, Mexican Joe, Yonder Comes a Sucker, Delilah, Burning Love, Judy, Jailhouse Rock, Rhinestone Cowboy, Sweet Caroline, The famous Engelbert Medley, Italian O Sole Mio are some of the songs that are lined up for the show.

‘Kalashuree’ Harsha Makalande and the veteran Music director Suresh Maliyadde’s orchestras backed Janaka as in his previous concerts in Sri Lanka.

Janaka was interviewed sometime back on UK hit radio programme ‘The Inspirational Voices’ which also played his songs for 45 minutes. The programme was hosted by highly acclaimed Jillian Haslam and Alan Cox. He was also on ‘6EBA World Radio’ Brunch Time programme, which is one of the most popular programmes in Australia, hosted by Gordon Stacy, Laura and Michael.
